Brief description about me
I am currently working with Bharti Airtel in Marketing team as a National Product Manager for Education Genre. As a part of Emerging business, my role and mandate is to create products for our subscribers in Education field, which they can access through any device. The idea is to replicate the classroom experience and thus impact the lives of the end customers.
I am Engineer in Electronics from NIT Surat and MBA in Marketing from IMT Ghaziabad. Overall I have close to 55 months of experience.
Challenges in job
No one in the past has thought of right delivery model of education on personal devices. But the challenge is not only delivery model but a sustainable business model. As in India, students and parents still prefer to pay for offline teaching model. If we crack the right model, I believe we will really change the scenario of education in India.
Upcoming trends
Bigger Screen of Mobile, Dropping rates of Tablets, Availability of faster speeds with 3G & 4G, cheaper data plans. With all these available in next couple of years, it will be very easy for us to provide a quality content to every individual.
My point of view
In recent times, we have termed as services Industry and will remain so in near future. The main reason is that we lack patience and persistence (Barring few examples). As an individual, corporate, we need fast results. But product development is a long and enduring process. We need to make huge investments in terms of man and money to fill a gap by creating a right product. I believe in the country like of ours, there are so many gaps which still exist and we can really fill those gaps. If every organization keeps a part of its revenues/ time to work on newer ideas. I am sure we will sure crack billion dollar idea every month. We have to create right ecosystem for the young minds to experiment..
My goals
I would like to lead a team of people and create solution, which has at least 100 million users. I really want to change the face of the other India and bring that to the par, be it education, health, retail. But I don’t want to be in social service area. I would rather be identified as a business man, who sought out opportunities and created win-win situations for all the stakeholders.
family background
I belong to the city of temples of Jammu, have completed my schooling here. My parents still live there. My father is a business man and runs an industry. My mother is a homemaker. My sister is in TCS and based out of Mumbai,
My wife shares a passion of Retail industry. Having completed her MBA in retail, she continued to be a part of retail industry in different roles and companies. Currently she is working with Indiatimes shopping.
Advice to professionals
If it is a Greenfield, take as many chances as possible. You don’t know which one clicks. Nothing wrong in failing but Fail Fast.
Advice to students
I believe today, students of our colleges have all the resources and information to make choices. My only advice would be to be grounded and so something new. You will feel satisfied is you do something new, which has never been done before. So take risk.
