) Experience: • Joined as a clerk in Union Bank of India,
Kuralgam, Madras on 23.,12,1970. Promoted to Scale I in 1984,
Scale II in 1998 ,Scale III in 2004 and Scale IV in
2008. • Worked in Internal Audit Department for 5 years
between 1986-1991, as a Scale I officer, in Bangalore covering AP
and Karnataka States. During this period brought out many
serious irregularities in the Branches to enable the Bank to
initiate appropriate steps to protect the bank interests. I am
well acquainted with the procedures of audit. • On
promotion to scale II , worked as a Branch Manager in Raipur,
Chattisgarh State from 1998-2001. Achieved both advances and
deposits targets for 1999 and 2001. The Branch opened in 1980 had
a business mix of Rs.5 Cr. I improved the Branch business mix to
Rs.14 Cr in 3 years. Recovered chronic NPA amount of Rs.5 lacs in
1999. Between 2001-2004, worked as Manager, Credit in Regional
Office, Vijayawada. During this period handled advances
portfolio of the region covering 52 Branches under it. One major
achievement was the averting of a potential NPA of Rs.12 Cr
proposal, which was mired in controversy and later on became talk
of the town in 2001. • Unearthed a big fraud of Rs.2 Cr
in one of our Guntur Branches in 2002, which included
fabrication of documents, impersonation and false mortgage. As a
result of my investigation, Rs.80 lacs was immediately adjusted.
• As a scale III officer, worked in Corporate Credit
Deportment, Central Office, Mumbai from 2004-07 and dealt with
the advances of our M.S.Marg Branch, the biggest Branch of our
Bank with an advance portfolio of Rs.6000 Cr and Deposit base of
Rs.6000 Cr. Gained vital experience in Corporate Credit in
handling varieties of advance proposals including Capital Market
Advances. On return to home state in 2007, got posted to our
Saifabad Branch, Hyderabad. During my tenure as Credit Processing
Officer in Saifabad till Sep 2008, Branch advances rose from
Rs.127 Cr in March 2007 to Rs.522 Cr in Sep 2008. Incidentally
Saifabad became the II biggest Branch in AP in advances.
• As a scale IV officer, I was posted to our Ramkote Branch
in Oct 2008. A major gold fraud of Rs.16 Cr took place in the
Branch between Feb –Sep 2008, which came to light in Sep 2008.
Another small fraud of Rs.2.5 lacs also took place in the Branch
simultaneously. The then Chief Manager and the Officer were
suspended . Based on my past unblemished track record and
experience in various segments of Bank, I was replaced to stem
the rot and steady the Branch , which had a business mix of
Rs.217 Cr then (Deposits Rs.137 Cr and Advances Rs.80 Cr) In the
last one year, I restored the confidence of public and the staff
members and improved the business mix to Rs.255 Cr – Deposits
of Rs.160 Cr and Advances of Rs.95 Cr besides recovering Rs.1.50
Cr in the gold scam account. Achieved the targets of NPA cash
recovery for March 2009 and Sep 2009. Achieved the advances
target for March 2009. • Due to the exposure in Credit, my
areas of strength are Credit appraisal, preparation of process
notes, documentation and credit monitoring. By being associated
in all the departments of Bank, quite well versed in other areas
like auditing, detection of revenue leakage etc.
