Project WALMART DATA MIGRATION (IMS to DB2 Conversions)
Description Many of the open system applications need’s to
read the data which is currently with IMS Database. Because of
the proven convenience of data interchange with DB2, Now W*M has
decided to go with this conversion approach and the need to
accomplish this change of hierarchical database (IMS) to
relational database structure (DB2). Scope of Activities
: • Introduce “dual update” logic in all application
modules that access the Specific data segments. • Introduce
“switch” logic to read the data from DB2 and IMS databases
for all application modules Those have “read” logic
in them. • Changes to the JCL’s, PROCS, PARMCARD’s and
other operating environment settings – as
Applicable. • Creation of audit routines and store procedures
for data synchronization.
