Indian-Americans Diaspora Donated Millions of Dollars to US Ivy Schools

Various Indian-American personalities from the Indiaspora community have made notable contributions to Ivy universities in America.  

While several Indian Americans are gaining fame as famous entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, and CEOs of multinational corporations, another interesting factor has caught the attention of many. Various Indian Americans from the Indiaspora, a non-profit organization, have emerged as donors in top Ivy League universities in America.

The inaugural Monitor of the University has reported that almost 50 Indian Americans have donated up to 1.2 billion USD to US higher education. One popular personality in the Indiaspora is Gururaj Deshpande, a successful Indian-American entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He is a notable alumnus of IIT-Madras and has raised and donated nearly 20 million USD to launch centers assisting MIT faculty and students in commercializing breakthrough technologies. He has established Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, making pivotal investments in research and providing valuable industry expertise.

Another notable expertise, Mani L. Bhaumik is a physicist, author, and philanthropist, and a founder of Mani L. Bhaumik Institute for Theoretical Physics, a center for theoretical physics research and intellectual inquiry, at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The institute supports post-doctoral researchers and graduate students, brings distinguished scholars to UCLA, and organizes workshops and conferences to exchange ideas. He has donated multiple times with a profound vision towards establishing a world-leading center, supporting foundational work in quantum field theory, unification of forces, and foundational issues in quantum mechanics.

Several other Indian-American graduates who made notable contributions to the Ivy universities in America are Chandrika Tandon, donating up to 100 million for engineering at New York University, with Kiran Patel and his wife, Mrs. Pallavi Patel, making multiple donations to the Patel Family Foundation and the University of Florida. Other popular donors include Mukund Padmanabhan, Vinod Gupta, Madan Lal Sobti Chair, Sumir Chadha, Monte Ahuja, Lakshmi Mittal, and the late Vijay Sanghvi.
