Indian Americans Ready to Pay Big Bucks to Meet PM Modi

More than 30 U.S. Representatives and Senators have been invited to the event, including members of the Congressional and Senate US-India Caucuses. The event will be telecasted live in India and in the U.S.

If you can spare $25,000 (15 lakh), you can get yourself a ticket front row, and if you are even wealthier you could also attend dinner with Modi, which is planned at The Pierre, Taj Hotel. The dinner is expected to see 300 guests in attendance—150 from the embassy in Washington D.C and another 150 from the sponsors. Many Indians are willing to pay 15 lakh to 30 lakh to be present at the official dinner.

The event is timed to start at 9.30 am local time and all the pass holders are instructed to arrive by 9.00 am. Buses operate to MSG from New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut, tri-state area, which has the maximum Gujarati population. An entertainment program is scheduled between 10.00 am and 11.00 am, with A.R.Rahman reported to be performing. Modi’s speech is for the noon and is expected to wind up by 1.30 pm. 

Allocation of passes for the media was quite a difficult task for the organizers, with nearly 400 media members applying for it. Each media house is give three passes and only 800 of the 4000 online applicants given passes.
