Nikki Haley Rules out Herself as Running Mate for Romney

Bangalore: Nikki Haley, the Indian-American governor of South Carolina has said that she is not interested in being the running mate of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

"I have made it very clear from the very beginning that I love my job, I love South Carolina and I made a promise to the people of my state (to complete my term) and I have to keep it," the Wall Street Journal quoted Haley as saying.

Haley was seen as a potential vice presidential pick for Romney and was also was named in the list of 10 possible running mates of Romney by CBS News. But Haley has repeatedly denied that she is not in the race for being considered to this post.

Haley, who was elected to her current post in the year 2010, holds the privilege of being the first woman to become the Governor of South Carolina and Second Indian American Governor in the country.

Born to Sikh immigrants from Amritsar, Haley completed her graduation from Orangeburg Preparatory Schools and did B.S. in accounting from Clemson University.
