Bangalore: Two students form Bangalore and one from Lucknow made it to the 15 finalists of 2012 Google Science Fair along with an Indian American kid from Tigard. ‘The finalists will be taken to Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, to present their projects to our international panel of judges and compete for prizes that include $100,000 in scholarship funds, a trip to the Galapagos Islands and more’, Google said, reports RTN.

"All of these students asked interesting questions; many focused on real-world problems and some produced groundbreaking science that challenged current conventions”, said Sam Peter of the Google Science Fair team

"It’s been a fascinating two weeks for our Google Science Fair judges. They’ve been reviewing projects which try to solve myriad problems—from helping people with hearing loss enjoy music to saving water with vacuflush toilets—and they’ve been blown away by the inventiveness of the world’s young scientists," he added.

Yamini Naidu

This Indian American’s work on identification of medication leads for treating methamphetamine addiction qualified her for the finals. She aims to use science for the progress of humankind and likes to connect her passion for civic affairs with innovations in the field of science. According to Naidu, ‘’my ultimate goal is to give back to the community because the community has given me so many opportunities’’.
