2. Youngest Surgeon General in the History of America—
The 37 year old Dr. Vivek H Murthy is the youngest Surgeon General in the history of America. The young doctor’s origins come from the Hallegere in Mandya district of Karnataka. Murthy is the grandson of former director of Mysore Sugar Company and Vikranth Tyres, in Mandya, Karnataka. However Murthy was born in Huddersfield, England and raised in Miami, Florida, where he developed interest for the art of healing.
3. Dr. Murthy runs the Self-Funded SCOPE Foundation—
Murthy along with his doctor parents have set up the self-funded SCOPE Foundation in his native Hallegere and he also held several initiatives through his foundation. SCOPE provided 100 computers to the local government schools around the village and is now planning to distribute solar equipment to villages and schools.
