Will Microsoft Ship 400 Million Windows 8 Devices By Next July?

Bangalore: Microsoft is all packed to launch its most prestigious product, Windows 8 on October 25. The company is very much confident about the product and has some ambitious goals- 400 million Windows 8 devices to reach consumer hands by next July.

”Windows 8 will be a success; it will be a very special experience which is driven by the consumer,” said Keith Lorizio, Microsoft's U.S. sales and marketing VP to ZDNet. “We anticipate 400 million devices as a key distributor in a one billion-plus consumer marketplace, which includes both new sales and upgrades of the current Windows 7 OS,” continued Lorizio.

Microsoft is also planning to popularize the Windows 8 platform with a wide variety of apps. “We're expecting to aggressively pursue 100,000-plus apps over the first three months," said Lorizio. Adding to it, the Windows 8 store will be having paid advertisements, which rather than a distraction would be ‘beautiful, relevant and useful.’

The company is also planning to bring a good deal to the content publishers. "Every publisher who adds an app into the portfolio of apps we have in the marketplace ... we will work with them in order to execute a deal so they can take a share of the revenue for all the ads that we sell on to the network, and the same ads will appear across the network of advertisers, and the most unique thing will be a common look and feel," added Lorizio.

Now it’s just the wait till October 25, to know whether Microsoft will win the heart of millions worldwide with its Windows 8.
