What Would Steve Jobs Do if he were Alive?

Apple’s battle for “iPad”

One of the most well known reasons would be Apple’s battle with Chinese firm ProView International Holdings, which claims to have owned name of “iPad” since 2001. According to Bloomberg’s report on the matter, ProView, a failed display maker based in Hong Kong had a subsidiary branch which was controlled by banks such as the Bank of China, and China Minsheng Banking Corp. Whether the Shenzhen-based subsidiary gave permission to sell the rights to the name is in question, but its banking creditors, as well as the main unit of ProView deny ever making an agreement with Apple.

Apple has appealed to the Chinese court and the case will be taken up again on February 29. But if the world’s most valuable company loses the case, it would have to settle damages, and ban the iPad in China, which happens to be Apple’s second largest market in the world.
