These 10 Internet Whiz Kids Made Millions From Comfort Of Their Home
#3 Catherine and David Cook
Two high school students, Dave and Catherine Cook, and their older brother Geoff, during Spring Break of 2005 founded myYearbook which later became MeetMe. Catherine persuaded Geoff, who founded EssayEdge.com and ResumeEdge.com from a dorm in 1997, to invest in their project. myYearbook was an online, interactive high-school yearbook. At the launch of the site, Dave was a junior and Catherine was a sophomore; the project was initially activated at Montgomery High School, in suburban New Jersey where they attended. The site was created entirely by developers in India.
In July 2011, myYearbook announced it had agreed to be acquired by Latino social networking site Quepasa for $100 Million In Cash And Stock.
#2 Adam Horwitz
Adom Horwitz was a serial website developer. Aged 15, he developed nearly 30 websites until the one which really was a hit. In 2010, at the age of 18, he had made six figures from products like Cell Phone Treasure, a online course which teaches teens how to make money with cell phones, before coming up with a new product that made him an astounding $1.5 million in just 3 days.
#1 Michael Furdyk
Furdyk, just a teenager, created MyDesktop, an online technology magazine. He followed his own motto “Rather than complain, I create,” which he coined after noticing poor quality of other sites. While the site became quite popular, Furdyk and his 18 year old business partner were worried about the idea of trying to raise venture capital at such a young age. In the end, he sold MyDesktop for over $1 million – not bad for a 17 year old. He is currently a director of TakingITGlobal, a global youth-focused community that seeks to change the world for the better.
