An electrical engineer, Irwin Mark Jacobs is the co-founder and former chairman of Qualcomm, and chair of the board of trustees of the Salk Institute. Jacobs has a net worth of $ 1.55 billion. He has signed the Giving Pledge to give away his half of the property.

Jacobs along with his wife Joan has given away some $ 500 million to charitable cause that includes Cornell Tech Roosevelt Island campus, MIT fellowships, and the San Diego Symphony. He has given most of his donation towards fellowship and scholarships for deserving students in the field of engineering and computer science.

Pierre Omidyar, eBay founder:

A French-Iranian-American entrepreneur and philanthropist Pierre Omidyar is the founder and chairman of the eBay auction site. According to Forbes, Pierre Omidyar is worth 8.5 billion dollars as of 2013 and 123rd richest person in the world. He along with his wife signed Giving Pledge in 2010.

 

The couple said that they have more wealth than the family require, therefore, there is no need to hold on the money when it can be used for the welfare. They are the single biggest private donor in the fight against human trafficking. In 1998, they had given away more than one billion dollars for charity, when eBay was launched.
