Shameful Moments in Tech History

6. Miniscribe Brick Drives

Most hideous of all the schemes, the Colorado based disk drive manufacturer did something really shameful to uplift its drowning financial situation. In 1989, they started shipping bricks instead of ordered hard drives. The payment was used to recover from bankruptcy and then a packaging error notice was sent along with the right product to fix the situation. Miniscribe even laid off a many employees involved in the product dispatch error following up to the customer complaints.
