iPad-aholic: Confessions of 7 Tech CEOs

6. Adam Rich

Editor-in-Chief at Thrillist,a men’s lifestyle brand

Rich uses the iPad and its apps for almost everything. “These are my favorite apps,” he says, “Thrillist, especially when I travel; JackThreads for buying myself clothes when I’m sad and alone in a hotel; Thrillist Rewards, naturally; Newsstand for keeping up with my magazine subs; OpenTable for dinner reservations; Seamless Food Delivery when I’m hungry and lazy; Epicurious when I’m hungry and not lazy; DJ Mixer to put together mixes and do mashups — great way to make a flight go by quickly; GarageBand to remind me why I’m an editor and not a composer; Marvel Comics so there’s no physical evidence that I’m still a child; iBooks because being able to pull any book I want at a moment’s notice is still like magic to me … when I hear or read about an interesting author, I can get their stuff before I forget; the MAGIC so that when I get out to Vegas I don’t get lost in a convention hall so big you can see the curvature of the earth; Concur so I can be a good boy and keep up with my expense reports; AmEx/Capital One/Chase so I can see actually how bad a boy I’ve been; GIFBoom so I can shoot little snippets of animation and email them around instantly … good for quick demonstrations; AIM/Twitter/Instagram to stay in touch; fancy for looking at beautiful stuff; Find My iPhone for the exact reason you’d imagine; Netflix; crossword puzzles and Solitaire, because on some level part of me must miss having a PC.”
