Google's Lethal Weapon against Microsoft, Apple


The first time the Webtop technology debuted, it had a number of drawbacks—the smartphone in question needed more RAM than it had, and so it was unbelievably slow. But the Webtop, according to Cnet’s report, was horrible in the same way as Apple’s Macbook 1.0 and Android 1.0 was awful, and the Lapdock has better features now, with Webtop 2.0’s improvements too.

So Google’s acquisition of Motorola could bring the companies to an enviable standpoint if they worked to improve these technologies further; especially since their rivals (read: Microsoft+Nokia and Apple) have nothing like it so far.

If Google and Motorola learned to bring together the speed of the Chrome OS, the better user-experience of the Webtop, and combined it with Android, it would give consumers something that the iPhone didn’t have, and provide them the chance to replace their PCs with their smartphones and bridge the gap between the devices.

Business consumers too could be reeled in from the Windows-loyal community, especially since most of them are moving and managing their enterprises on the cloud, or private servers.

But this approach too has its own hurdles--
