But all of this is only clouded over by the already over-fragmented Android user community (and the percentage of those using older versions of the OS); and then of course, there are the hardware manufacturers who will have to be convinced to remain as allies instead of opponents.
And while both of these are major concerns, probably the biggest hurdle, as per CNET’s report, would be that of the brains behind the Webtop, Seang Chau, leaving Motorola to join Microsoft just as the Google-Motorola deal got sanctioned by the American and European regulators.
In the end, how much of the ecosystem is to change lies in the hands of Google, and its level of discretion when deciding what to do with Motorola Mobility. But know this: if Google plays well, and wisely, it could have a game-changer in its hands right now.
