Exposed: Tech CEO's Do-Not-Hire Code
Intel on Pixar recruiting
“We cannot recruit (including calling up, emailing or enticing in any way) current Pixar employees to work for Intel. If a Pixar employee applies to Intel without being recruited by Intel, contact Pat Gelsinger and explain to him a Pixar employee has applied to Intel without being recruited and he will contact the CEO of Pixar for approval to hire.”
Intel to Google
Renee James, an HR personnel with Intel, wrote to CEO Paul Otellini: “I am losing so many people to Google. They are selectively going after my people in Moscow, China and Santa Clara. The turnover in Moscow is almost 20%... and, the belief is damage is done in Russia - meaning they have what they want already.”
In response, Otellini emailed then-Google CEO Eric Schmidt, saying: “Eric, can you help here??? Renee runs all my s/w efforts... she is not an alarmist...”
Addressing Otellini's concerns, Schmidt sought an explanation from Lazslo Bock (currently the senior vice president of people operations at Google), asking...“I was under the impression we were not hiring from Intel. Is this not true? What are the facts?”
