Amazon Follows Apple, Ditches Google Map
Bangalore: Google Maps, the most popular service from Google is lately having a hard time, as many of the most popular platforms are ditching this service, latest one being Amazon. According to Reuters, Amazon’s latest Kindle Fire will have mapping services via a tie-up with Nokia Oyj.
The world’s biggest online retailer is expected to launch its second version of tablets this week. With the addition of new mapping service and a handful of new features including location capabilities, the new tablet is expected to outrun its predecessor in popularity and sales.
Kindle Fire’s first version had been a success since it accounts for one in five tablet sales in the U.S.
According to analysts, Amazon may release a bigger tablet on the September 6th event, to compete directly with the iPad. It is also expected to face a tight competition from Google’s own Nexus tablet, released last month.
Apple had earlier removed Google Maps from its new version of O.S, replacing it with Apple’s own service.
