Innovators: Yahoo Firing, Facebook Hiring

Bangalore: The patent war raging between Yahoo and Facebook hasn’t reached its peak yet, and Yahoo is already planning its next move. Yahoo plans to fire a few members or the whole division of Yahoo Research by the end of this month, while Google and Facebook are more than ready to hungrily embrace the academics and researchers facing the hit, according to a report on Pando Daily.

Yahoo’s Research division consists of brilliant tech minds such as those of Duncan Watts, the person who defined the basics of Social networking in his book ““Six Degrees: The Science of a Connected Age”, as early as in 2003.

Scott Thompson, Yahoo’s latest CEO promised “disruptive concepts” to innovate in new ways, but this is one way of innovation not many expected, according to the report, especially since the Yahoo Research site says it’s “the central advanced research organization of Yahoo! Inc.” “We’re responsible for big inventions– our goals are nothing short of inventing the future of the Internet and creating the next generation of Business for Yahoo!”, elaborates the site.

But other tech giants have sensed the troubled waters and are poised to strike.
