Bangalore: If the statistics are true, more than any other jobs, now is the best time to be a software engineer. In fact, it pays to “code”. According to the Bureau of Labour Statistics, software engineering jobs are growing much faster than the average of every other occupation in the world, a projected 30 percent growth from 2010 to 2020.

Each and every tech companies out there are paying their coders well, with some earning basic salary of approximately $125K. According to Jon Evans of TechCrunch, the reason for this high pay check is basic economics: “Demand has skyrocketed, supply has stagnated, and prices have risen.” But when we think about the thousands of software engineers out there, why does this trend lasts from the beginning of this decade? And how long it’s going to stay? Not more than a couple of years, says Evans. “Exponentially larger number of people will flood into the field, bringing salaries back down to earth despite the ever-increasing demand.”

But, history has refused to follow this prediction. Even during the first Dot-com bubble, back in 1997, many people predicted that the programmers will soon be driven to low salaries due to the competition from increasing numbers. But it never happened. In spite of the increasing number of software engineers, the salary also increased. But why?

Before knowing that let’s see how much the tech companies are paying their programmers:

#10 Cisco Systems

Average Salary of a Software Engineer: $101,909

Cisco Systems, which designs, manufactures, and sells networking equipment, employs about 71825 people. Not many software engineers would like to work at a company which makes hardware so it’s no surprise that Cisco attracts employees by paying them some big bucks.

2: Microslop: " is known for its unusual hiring procedures with obscure questions." Which is why the company creates the worst, sloppy, bug ridden, inconsistent, tedious to use, myopic in its design software on the planet. Oh, I didn't run out of adjectives, I could have written a few hundred more or several thousand words describing how hideous their software engineering is.

3: Why not? According to Gartner, IT will be the strategic direction for any enterprise looking to align with the rapid changes in the modern society. As gartner predicts 72% of all enterprises will choose IT as their strategic tool to achieve their goals. So, Leaving out IT is not an Option! Understanding various businesses and trying to optimize and automate tasks through use of ICT is the current mantra. This is good time to be in IT and hence the perks are high for those who got stuff not fluff.
