Google Doodles That Made Occasions More Alluring To Indians


BANGALAORE: Google, the search giant has dedicated several doodles to India, to mark various special occasions. Each time Google has come up with various modifications in its logo such as, animated figures, cartoon characters, humorous features and glitter images to mark birthdays of eminent figures like Ustad Alla Rakha, major events like Republic day, festivals like Holi and many more—making each occasion more alluring to indians. Read on to know the 11 such Google Doodles as compiled by TOI.

Ustad Alla Rakha’s 95th birthday: To pay homage to the late Ustad Allah Rakha, the greatest Indian Tabalist, Google celebrated his birthday on April 29, 2014 with a doodle on its home page. In the doodle Ustad was portrayed as playing two tablas with two ‘O’s of the Google logo turned into these percussion instruments. Adding to it, entire letters of the logo were into round shape except for the letter ‘L’ in the logo.

Cricket World Cup: Even though Google had celebrated the spirit of last two world cups with its doodle, it was in 2014 that it created a first doodle to mark the final of the T20 Cricket World Cup. When India and Sri Lanka played the ICC World T20 final match on April 6 2014, Google has displayed a doodle showing cheering fans, batsman playing a shot, a bowler, stumps and a fielder.
