Facebook's 'Graph Search' No Google Killer
Bangalore: The social giant Facebook grabbed limelight with the release of its search tool, “Graph Search”, which according to analysts has a strong potential to generate revenue.
The “Graph Search” tool which was unveiled on Tuesday lets more than 1 billion users dig around their network of friends to find everything from movie recommendations to restaurants. The company spent eight years provoking the users with various innovative links and new profile appearances to share everything they like and do. As of now, Facebook challenges that it has enough data so that the users can find whatever they want.
Though it is unlikely to challenge Google Inc, the new search tool has a strong potential to generate revenue for the social networking company, said the analysts of the Wall Street on Wednesday.
Currently, Facebook has a partnership with Microsoft Corp, whose Bing search powers the traditional web searches to provide search results from external websites. The Graph Search has chances to knock over the Web search business ruled by its chief opponent, Google. Moreover, the tool is likely to bash other web services designed for specific kinds of information, like LinkedIn for career, Match for dates and Yelp for restaurants.
