Facebook Rivals LinkedIn By Introducing

Bangalore: Facebook is on a competing spree with its fellow social networking sites. First it introduced real-time feeds to face off Twitter. Now it’s eyeing to compete with LinkedIn, a professional networking website by introducing a test-based ‘Professional Skills’ section on user profiles.

A Facebook spokesperson told thenextweb.com in a statement that they are currently testing a new option where Facebook users can add professional skills related to their work and education.

This new feature is aimed at job seekers and appears to be in a rollout phase, allowing users to add multiple professional skill sets which will then appear under “Work and Education” section of their timeline.

Previously, Facebook had introduced another LinkedIn-type feature by announcing “Social Jobs Partnership” with the U.S. Department of Labor and other government agencies which was posting job openings from major recruiting companies like BanchOut, Jobvite, Work4 Labs, DirectEmployers and Monster.com.
