6. Purchase a Significant Social Network

Though Google has purchased a few social networking sites like Meebo in the past, they haven’t gained much success. To win the war against Facebook, Google should buy a significantly larger network like LinkedIn or Yelp.

Yelp, which is not generating much revenue, can be a good buy for Google considering it has a large loyal user base and high-quality content. On the other hand, buying LinkedIn would be a costly affair, but it would make Google, the owner of world’s largest professional network which is even phasing out Monster and CareerBuilder in the field of hiring solutions.
