Google hoped to convince both business and education users when it updated the Chromebook. As it is connected to Web, the user could log in and download any file from Google Drive. But the problem is this Web-centric product is uncompetitive as it demands integrated cloud storage, which can be accessed only via the operating system itself, not through the Web interface.

When Chromebook devices were introduced, it was anticipated to be helpful for educational institutions and other corporate that they may not spend money on licensing seats for software. But this typical Chromebook was priced exceptionally high and was underpowered than other netbooks, laptops and tablets.

Meanwhile, the educational institutions and corporates found Apple’s iPad more favorable as it was less costly.

Thus Chromebook failed either to be a cloud-client or a traditional laptop.
