8. Minority Report

The movie shows Tom Cruise’s adventures in the department of pre-crime, which can actually arrest suspects before they commit a crime. The film asks serious questions of what can and should be done with technology. It also touches on heavy subjects such as free will versus pre-destination.

Steven Spielberg worked with technology innovators and researchers when creating this film and designing its interfaces. Minority Report certainly has certainly influenced consumer electronics and industrial design in general.

7. Blade Runner

One of the greatest science fiction movies ever created, Blade Runner is based in the future showing that technology has allowed scientists to create artificial human beings called replicants. Harrison Ford is hired to track down and eliminate four rascal replicants. Nominated for several awards, it keeps tech geeks thinking about the pro’s and con’s of technology. It was also one of the first titles released on DVD.
