The Law: China might be the country with strictest internet laws. Everybody knows about the Chinese “Great Firewall,” which restricts millions of websites from entering the country. It is also restricted for the public to express dissenting opinions through websites like Facebook and Google.

The country has more than 60 internet regulations and is rumored to have a 30,000 virtual police force to keep track of everything. Internet cafes in the country monitor each and every keystroke of the users. It even includes records on online gaming. The foreign content providers must abide by the local rules if they want to enter the country. Once, Microsoft was forced to block all its blogs in china containing words such as “freedom,” “democracy” and “demonstration.”

Penalties: Breaking the Chinese laws can gain you years in prison even without trials. Posting offensive content in websites will leads to huge fines. There are also rumors about torture and forced labor to the offenders and activists.
