10 Most Innovative Nations In The World

Bangalore: “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower,” said late Steve Jobs, a prolific innovator the world ever saw. But, transferring these innovations into output is what counts at the end.

The Global Innovation Index does the same- calculate the innovation efficiency of the countries around the world. The list contains nations which are good in overcoming their relative weaknesses and transform innovation inputs into outputs.

Here are the top 10 innovative countries of 2012, which includes India.

#10 Sri Lanka

Score: 0.92

Sri Lanka, a small country located close to India with a population 20.5 million, made it to the 10th spot in the list. The country is getting support from international bodies like UNESCO in extending the innovative capacity by developing Nanotechnology parks. Adding to it some organizations like Inventors Commission helps innovators with ‘Ray Award,’ which celebrates innovation in the country and the winner is awarded Rs 1 million to prepare the innovation for commercialization.
