The management company Booz and Co. puts a comprehensive report on the world’s 1000 biggest spenders on research and development and connection between their spending and performance. Cisco Systems is an American multinational company, head quartered in San Jose, California, U.S. that manufactures and sells networking equipment.

According to Boston Consultancy Group (BCS), which carried out the survey in 2005, 66 percent of the surveyed managers said that innovation was one of their company’s top three strategic priorities.    

The company has a world wide network of 1110 labs with 12,000 professionals and more than 1100 patents issued to Cisco inventors.

In India, Cisco’s on campus research and development capability based in Bangalore is the largest outside U.S. It has 110 patents from Indian center and about 500 patents pending in U.S. Patents and Trademark office.
