Unexpected exit in Zomato! Co-Founder CPO Akriti Chopra steps down

Chief People Officer (CPO) and cofounder of foodtech firm Zomato, Akriti Chopra, has submitted her resignation from the company.
The foodtech business stated in an exchange filing with the BSE that Chopra left the company to follow other interests.
After completing her studies at Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Chopra began working at ZomatoZomato Datalabs_in-article-icon in 2011 as a senior manager of operations and finance. She advanced through the ranks and was appointed chief financial officer (CFO) in 2019.
In 2021, as Zomato was getting ready to go public, she was promoted to cofounder.
Albinder Dhindsa, the CEO and co-founder of Blinkit, is married to Chopra. In 2022, Zomato purchased the fast commerce business.
Zomato is a multi-vertical operating company that was founded in 2008 by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah. These verticals include food delivery, rapid commerce, B2B supply, and going out business. Gaurav Gupta, Gunjan Patidar, and Mohit Gupta were three more top executives that were promoted to cofounder status shortly after Chaddah left the company in 2018.
Gunjan Patidar and Mohit Gupta left in 2023 and 2022, respectively, while Gaurav Gupta resigned in 2021. Deepinder Goyal, the CEO, is the lone surviving cofounder of the foodtech firm following Chopra's departure.
Zomato recorded a net profit of INR 253 Cr for the quarter that ended in June 2024, up from INR 2 Cr for the same period the previous year. Comparing Q1 FY24 to Q1 FY24, operating sales increased by 74% to INR 4,206 Cr from INR 2,416 Cr.
On Friday, September 27, the company's shares ended the day 1.97% lower at INR 278.25 on the BSE.
"We would like to inform that Ms. Akriti Chopra, cofounder & chief people officer designated as senior management personnel, has tendered her resignation w.e.f. September 27, 2024,” the filing from the company said.
