STPI Launches Open Challenge Program 6.0 for Health-Tech Startups

The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) launched the Open Challenge Program (OCP) 6.0 at the STPI MedTech Centre of Excellence (CoE), in collaboration with SGPGIMS Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh Government, AiMeD, and the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ).

As per the Ministry of Electronics & IT, this program will enable health-tech startups to solve real-world problems in sectors such as medical equipment, electronics, and health informatics.

OCP 6.0 saw application opening on March 21, 2025, with the deadline for submission being April 20, 2025.

STPI, as an autonomous organization of MeitY, organized the esteemed STPI SANGAM event on Friday, which brought together industry leaders, investors, mentors, and startups under the aegis of MeitY's Next Generation Incubation Scheme (NGIS).

S Krishnan, MeitY Secretary, stressed at the occasion that startups are the source of innovation and economic growth. He stressed their role in outlining India's future with their innovative and nimble approaches to address real-world problems.

He also assured that the government is committed to fostering the startup ecosystem, helping entrepreneurs innovate, scale, and enhance India’s global competitiveness.

Arvind Kumar, Director General of STPI, added that every startup, whether from major cities or smaller towns, deserves a platform to thrive. He proudly shared that 44% of STPI’s startup portfolio consists of women entrepreneurs, many from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

He noted that with the NGIS initiative, STPI has sponsored 685 start-ups, gave seed capital to 136 start-ups, and created more than 7,000 jobs.
