Six Kerala Agri-Startups to Receive National Recognition
- Six farm startups from Kerala Agricultural University’s RAFTAAR Agri-Business Incubator will be awarded in New Delhi under the RKVY-RAFTAAR program.
- Startups like Dr Jackfruit India (Beyond Snacks), Zaphon Repurpose (Sunbird Straws), and TMJ Foods (vitamin D2 mushroom drink) highlight Kerala's agri-innovation strength.
- K P Sudheer, mentor of Kerala’s agri-startup ecosystem, will lead the team, showcasing the state’s impactful innovations on a national platform.
Six farm startups designed under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) at the Kerala Agriculture University will be awarded in New Delhi on Monday. The startups were designed at the varsity's RAFTAAR Agri-Business Incubator.
The event, to be presided over by the RKVY Advisor, is designed to recognize excel lent incubators and startups developed under the RKVY-RAFTAAR programme. Kerala team, headed by K P Sudheer, agri-startup ecosystem mentor of Kerala and Director, KAU Agri-Business Incubator, will be representing the chosen ventures on the national platform.
"Today is a day to be proud of Kerala and a great chance to showcase the innovation and the impact that is coming out of the agricultural sector of our state", said Sudheer. The selected startups include Dr Jackfruit India, Zaphon Repurpose, TMJ Foods India, Eatery Malabarikus, Swojas Farms, and Bio-Arya Vedic Naturals.
Dr Jackfruit India, started by Manas Madhu, has repositioned Kerala's banana chips as globally distributed, flavour-filled snack foods under the brand Beyond Snacks, while Zaphon Repurpose, headed by Saji Varghese, is creating environment-friendly straws using coconut leaves under the brand Sunbird Straws. TMJ Foods, headed by T J Thankachan, is manufacturing a vitamin D2-infused health drink from mushrooms.
