Dhoni, a car fan himself, explained that insurance has tended to seem overly complicated. "Acko simplifies where there was complexity," he said. "Their tech-led, customer-first approach is the way New India wishes to interact with trust, simplicity, and transparency."

Acko has sold more than 1 billion policies and served over 78 million customers so far. The Bengaluru-headquartered firm reported  Rs  2,106 crore revenue in FY24, a 20% increase from the last fiscal. It has raised more than $458 million, with General Atlantic, Accel Partners, and Elevation Capital being prominent investors.

Acko co-founder Varun Dua says, "Dhoni isn't merely a face for Acko; he embodies our values discipline, innovation, and trust. Together, we're going to remake insurance into something people actually connect with."

Using Dhoni's popular public image, Acko wants to further fast-track its vision of making insurance easier and more accessible for everyone in India.
