Dheeraj Gupta:

A Vada Pav Snacks Business, Jumbo King is now Mumbai’s largest selling vada pav. It is now spread across India with over 60 stores in 15 cities. It was Dheeraj Gupta, an MBA in Hotel Management who shocked the people by starting out as a small outsourcing outlet in front of Malad Railway Station.

He keenly observed how food chains like Mc Donalds, KFC, Pizza Hut and the like made huge profits by selling just one product. He noticed that Mumbai’s favorite Vada Pav, a spicy snack is sold by hundreds of street vendors, was largely unorganized.

He then decided to get into vada pav business on a smaller line, for which he managed 2 Lakh to lease out a piece of land. His idea was to outsource the manufacture of patties for a small fee to a vendor and fry them in the store. He then modernizes the store which fulfills the requirements of busy-young Indians.

In 2013 Jumbo King witnessed the turnover of 25 Crores. Jumbo King is now eying on incorporating more products.
