During the startup awards ceremony, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu were recognized as the leading states in India. Speaking at the event, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the pivotal role startups play in India's progress towards achieving developed nation status by 2047. Goyal underscored the significant contributions of startups across diverse sectors, including MedTech, FinTech, AgroTech, aviation, drones, and simulators. Identifying tourism as an area with untapped potential, he urged startups to explore inventive ideas to promote sustainable tourism.
Highlighting Prime Minister Modi's emphasis on New Age Skills, Futuristic Tech, AI, and Innovation, Minister Piyush Goyal commended the achievements in sectors like millets and food processing while urging startups to shift their focus to emerging areas like artificial intelligence (AI). He encouraged the development of ideas that simplify life and bring revolutionary changes to existing work methodologies. Goyal praised the substantial advancements in the startup sector over the past eight years, noting its evolution from a novelty to an integral part of the national mainstream.
Expressing confidence in the entrepreneurial spirit across age groups, Goyal urged individuals, regardless of age, to contribute their distinctive perspectives and ideas to the startup ecosystem. He emphasized that age should not be a barrier to engaging with new concepts and fostering innovation. The Minister acknowledged India's position as the third-largest global startup ecosystem, realizing the aspirations of numerous entrepreneurs and introducing innovative business practices. During his address, Goyal outlined key initiatives to further support startups, including sector-specific categorization for more targeted interactions, data sanitization to identify startup locations and track their development stages, and efforts to ensure the registration of all startups on the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) portal.
