Bangalore: It certainly takes courage to follow your dream and stand strong amidst doubt and fear. While being an entrepreneur could involve great risks, there are a few who stand apart from the rest. As rightly said by the great technologist Steve Jobs - “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”

At a recently held event - Startupcity 2013, delivering the keynote, Chetan Maini, founder of Reva Electric Car Company spoke about ‘Against All Odds: From Innovation to Success.’ Chetan shared his experience, his journey and reflected on the key areas that served as a changing point in his life.

At a time when concept cars were scarce, Maini introduced the concept of electric car – Reva. He narrated his story of how he came up with the unique idea of an electric car in the Indian market and how it became a great success.

Chetan started off by sharing his experience from his university days. He said “As 20 year olds we had never built a car before we built it.”

He believes that “Anything is possible.” “No one back then knew of an electric car and that was our biggest advantage. The advantage that it was never done before made us think out of the box, innovate very differently and challenged us as we didn’t know our limits.”
