The pioneer of electric cars in India also spoke about ‘team work’. Chetan said that he had to understand how electric cars work. He said that as a team they got it working, and not just the technology part but also the various aspects and how they could make it happen.

As a co-founder of Reva, the next thing he did was to understand the energy management. Then they moved on to get some seed funding.

Chetan said “In 2006 our business needed to grow and we had investment and were getting external parties on board. In 2009 we showcased are next gen cars in Frankfurt Moto Show and we got a very positive response. There were 43 electric cars showcasing there. We had a lot of good technology, but we realized that it’s important to get larger operating partners.” It was then that Mahindra came on board.

Chetan moved on to talk about his transition from a technologist to an entrepreneur and then to an intrapreneur.

A word of advice from this pioneer to young entrepreneurs is - “It is important for entrepreneurs to surround themselves with the right people who share the same dream when threading one’s way to the top to be a winner.”
