Bootstrapped Startup THIP Forays into Insurance with IRDAI License
- THIP receives IRDAI’s Direct Insurance Broker license (Life & General)
- Will offer curated health and term life insurance via platform and communities
- Expansion aligns with THIP’s mission to improve health literacy across India
The Healthy Indian Project (THIP), a bootstrapped health literacy platform which has become well known for fighting medical misinformation, has been awarded the Direct Insurance Broker (Life & General) license by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
This policy go-ahead allows THIP to distribute insurance products directly through its online platform and extensive community networks. The company will start with health and term life insurance plans carefully selected in collaboration with top insurers. This is a major strategic shift, adding insurance distribution to the company's core objective of promoting health literacy throughout India.
Established in 2019 by entrepreneur Sudipta Sengupta, THIP has established its legacy around empowering people with reliable, condition-specific health information and lively community backing.
