BGSBU and JKEDI Host Startup Challenge to Boost Innovation
  • BGSBU and JKEDI organize Startup India Challenge with 500 students participating

Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), in partnership with the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), held the Startup India Challenge at the university auditorium. The event drew around 500 enthusiastic students eager to showcase their entrepreneurial ideas.

Registrar Abhishek Sharma, the chief guest, highlighted the importance of startups in driving innovation and encouraged students to develop sustainable business models. He assured that BGSBU is dedicated to creating a supportive environment to nurture a strong startup culture on campus. Sharma also announced plans to invite national business leaders to mentor students and revealed that MoUs with top institutions are in progress to strengthen the startup ecosystem. Additionally, a National Advisory Committee will soon be set up to provide expert guidance to budding entrepreneurs.

The event began with a welcome speech by Dr. A.A. Shah, faculty in charge of the Startup and Innovation Cell, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Mubashir Malik, Head of the IT and Engineering Department. Mehraj, District Nodal Officer of JKEDI, shared details about various startup programs and opportunities available through JKEDI.

During the challenge, 17 innovative ideas were presented before a panel of four judges. After careful evaluation, three ideas were selected for the final round. The event offered a lively platform for students to engage with experts and gain valuable feedback.
