AI Startup Sentient Launches AGI Platform Reaching 2 Million Users
- Sentient opens world’s first open-source AGI network to 2M users, enabling 40+ AI agents and 50+ data sources to collaborate in real time
- Backed by $85 Million funding from Founders Fund, Pantera Capital & Framework Ventures, the platform introduces token-based incentives for developers
- Cofounders Sandeep Nailwal & Himanshu Tyagi position Sentient as India-led global alternative to OpenAI & AWS in the AI race
Artificial intelligence (AI) company Sentient opened up its open-source Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) network, granting access to 2 million waitlisted users and allowing several AI agents to work together in real time. The firm stated that it will be competing head-on with the likes of OpenAI and AWS as it has introduced its first open AGI network in which 40+ AI agents, models, and 50+ data sources work together in real time.
"US-China AI standoff has the risk of shutting the rest of the world out. In the absence of an open common base, sovereign models are national silos. Sentient provides India and allied nations the rails to compete, and win, on their own terms", stated Sandeep Nailwal, Sentient cofounder. The platform combines ecosystem agents deployed across multiple blockchains. Agents and data sources are available through Sentient Chat, a consumer interface of the AI company. Nailwal labels this release as 'a defining moment when India shows it can shape the AI destiny not simply emulate it'.
The company asserts that it can produce such outputs as thorough investment reports that integrate pricing, research, and market information in real time.
"From the creation of in-depth financial asset reports to providing personalized daily news summaries, arranging travel, or generating long-form research synopses, Sentient's spaces show how agents can be choreographed into sophisticated, multi-step processes, far surpassing the tasks of simple prompt wrapping", the company stated.

The cofounder of San Francisco-based Sentient is Himanshu Tyagi. In 2024, it raised $85 million in a co-led seed funding round by Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, and Framework Ventures, with additional investors joining in.
"We're demonstrating that open, composable intelligence can out-innovate any one company", Tyagi stated. "When thousands of developers can add specialized agents that work automatically in combination, you get emergent intelligence that no closed system can match", he continued.
The company taps into a global team of developers unlike closed labs relying on finite engineers. It added that this model functioned on a token-based incentive system where developers earn tokens whenever their agents, models, or data are used, and users can stake tokens to support the agents they find most valuable. "Whereas typical pay-per-API models charge developers without providing ownership or profit-sharing, Sentient compensates contributors with a direct interest in the growth of the network", the firm stated.
