The Entrepreneur Who Filmed the Supersonic Space Jump


Bangalore: The world knows that a man fell to Earth from more than 24 miles high on Sunday 14 October, becoming the first human to break the sound barrier under his own power and some help from gravity. But very few are aware of the person who made it possible for the world to witness Felix Baumgartner achieve this historic feat.

The name of the entrepreneur is Jay Nemeth of FlightLine Films. He founded the company in 2007 to provide aerospace cinematography. And he did this even before there was a demand for it.

How did it all start?

In 2008, Nemeth aerially photographed Red Bull Rampage, an extreme mountain bike competition out of a helicopter. After the filming, he met the producer over lunch, where he got to know about Red Bull Stratos project. The producer told him about that they are looking for someone could film a project which would take place at the edge of space.
