The Entrepreneur Who Filmed the Supersonic Space Jump
The technology behind
Nemeth could make cameras work in space by replacing the components that would fail in vacuum. For cooling purposes, he designed special coverings that use dry nitrogen gas and heat exchangers. He also built ground-based optical trackers.
Before filming the actual event, a lot of simulation was done. He created chambers that reproduced the vacuum and cold of space. The parameters of time, temperature and other conditions were appropriately altered. He with his team had simulated the flight so many times that this incredibly complex flying TV studio was as familiar to them as driving a car.
Advice for entrepreneurs
“Identify something new that no one is doing even if it is ahead of time. Be patient and let the industry catch up with you. If you position yourself correctly, you'll be their first choice, and possibly their only choice. As they say in aviation, you want to be number one on the runway.”
