WC: KL Rahul slams the fastest century by an Indian batsman
KL Rahul made headlines by breaking a long-standing record during the ICC ODI World Cup match against the Netherlands at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Rahul achieved the distinction of being the fastest Indian batter to score a century in the ODI World Cup history, completing the feat in just 62 deliveries. He surpassed the previous record held by Rohit Sharma, who had scored a century in 63 deliveries in the match against Afghanistan. This impressive accomplishment has cemented Rahul's position as one of the most dynamic and talented batsmen in the game.
KL Rahul scored his second century in World Cup history, which also marks the first century of the ongoing edition. He also joined the elite company of Rahul Dravid by becoming the second Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a century, with Dravid being the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter who achieved this feat in a World Cup match.
Dravid achieved this feat in the 1999 World Cup against Sri Lanka when he played a magnificent 145-run knock. Rahul got dismissed on the second last ball of the inning by Bas de Leede at a score of 102 comprising 11 boundaries and six maximum. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 128 off 94 balls as India finished their innings on 410/4.
