The IPL 2024 inauguration is scheduled for March 22, 2024, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This grand event will kickstart with the opening match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), all on the same ground. Prior to the cricket extravaganza, spectators will be treated to an extravagant opening ceremony, promising to be the most significant yet, with the participation of prominent Bollywood stars.
According to sources, the opening ceremony is poised to be a lavish affair graced by numerous Bollywood luminaries. Among them, Sonu Nigam stands out as he prepares for his inaugural performance at the IPL. Reports suggest that Sonu will jet off to Chennai from Jodhpur, where he's tied up with prior commitments, to join the event. His performance is anticipated to commence with a patriotic rendition, followed by a collaboration with AR Rahman later in the evening.
The report also indicates that AR Rahman will showcase multiple performances with his ensemble during the event. The entire show is expected to run for 30 minutes, featuring performances by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. Sonu Nigam will present a medley of popular Bollywood hits. In addition to the musical performances, the audience can look forward to a groundbreaking display of AR (Augmented Reality) technology showcasing the highlights of the opening ceremony. Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff are slated to perform at the event as part of the promotional activities for their upcoming movie, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'.
During the IPL 2023 opening ceremony, the spotlight was on Arijit Singh, Rashmika Mandanna, and Tamannaah Bhatia, who captivated the audience with their captivating performances. This year, the festivities are set to commence around 6:30 pm IST on March 22, just before the inaugural match of the 17th season. Following the grand event, the season's first match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will kick off at 8 pm IST. Subsequent matches are scheduled for 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
