Two-time Olympic medallist and badminton icon PV Sindhu marked Olympic Day by championing the 'Let’s Move?' campaign, encouraging citizens to embrace physical activity and inspire others to join them. Olympic Day, celebrated annually on June 23, commemorates the founding of the modern Olympic Games in 1894 and promotes global participation in sport and movement.
Taking to social media platform X, Sindhu expressed her passion for the campaign, saying, “My journey as an athlete has taught me that movement brings immense joy. This Olympic Day, I want to share that joy with you! Pick your +1 - someone you want to inspire, someone who inspires you and let's get moving together”.
The 'Let’s Move?' initiative, launched by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2023, is built around the simple idea of encouraging people to invite a friend a '+1' to walk, run, dance, skip, or engage in any form of movement. The campaign uses the influence of Olympic athletes to highlight how sport and movement can unite people and improve overall well-being.
Participants are encouraged to share their activity using the hashtag #LetsMove and tag @Olympics across digital platforms. The campaign reflects the IOC’s broader mission to make sport more accessible and impactful for everyone, every day.
In a separate post, Sindhu reflected on her Olympic journey, sharing a collage of her medal moments from Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. “There’s nothing bigger than this. This isn’t just sport it’s my land, my blood, my sweat, and my tears. Grateful to have represented India at the highest level”, she wrote.
Sindhu made history by winning silver at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and bronze in Tokyo in 2021. She also became the first Indian to win a badminton world championship title in 2019.
