KKR posted a comprehensive 80-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their recent IPL 2025 match at Eden Gardens. Although their batting and bowling were impressive, it was their post-match social media post that grabbed all the attention.
Travis Head, the Australian batsman who has consistently haunted Indian cricket fans with his match-winning knocks, again failed to ignite this time getting out for a mere 4 runs off 2 balls. Head's poor record against KKR did not abate, with his last three scores standing at 0 (2), 0 (4), and 4 (2). The Eden crowd went wild as Vaibhav Arora got rid of him, emulating his earlier exploit in the IPL 2024 final, when he had sent Head packing for a duck.
Following the game, KKR's snarky remark on social media ensued. On X (formerly Twitter), the team put up an image presenting Head's recent scores against them, with the caption: "Head-ing towards the business, right from the start." The pun was a not-so-subtle reference to Head's early dismissals, and it soon ignited discussions online.
There were varied reactions to the post. Although fans and viewers outside of KKR commended the witty jab and appreciated the team's neutralizing one of world cricket's most lethal batsmen, others condemned the post as being unsportsmanlike and needless trolling.
Travis Head, who single-handedly had ruined India's hopes with centuries in both the 2023 World Test Championship and ODI World Cup finals, has emerged as a name that elicits strong emotions from Indian cricket fans.
