IPL 2025: Virat Kohli Backs New RCB Captain for a Bright Future
Indian megastar Virat Kohli has supported newly-appointed Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar to captain the team for many years.
Kohli, who has been an RCB stalwart ever since the inception of the Indian Premier League in 2008, was the captain of the franchise for over a decade and still is its face.
Patidar has replaced Faf du Plessis as captain with the latter shifting to Delhi Capitals in the present season.
This man is going to captain you for a long, long time. He is going to do a fantastic job. He has all that is needed (to achieve success), Kohli told RCB's ardent fans during the team's Unbox event on Monday.
RCB never won the IPL but Kohli is optimistic.
"It is great to be back. The enthusiasm and euphoria is like any other season. I have been here for 18 years and love RCB to bits. We have a great team this time as well. Lot of talent in the team. I am personally very keen about this season", Kohli said.
This will be Kohli’s first IPL after retiring from T20 Internationals .Patidar, standing next to Kohli, said it is an honour to lead RCB.
"Players like Virat bhai, Ab de Villiers, Chris Gayle have played for RCB. I used to watch them as a kid. I have always had a lot of love for the franchise since the beginning. I am happier that I received a fresh new role to captain one of the biggest sides (in T20 cricket)", said Patidar, who has represented India too.
