Indian batting sensation and Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill reached Ahmedabad prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The official GT handle announced the arrival on X as they prepare for the commencement of their campaign against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shubman will be looking to put a forgettable season last year which followed a championship win in their first ever outing in 2022 and runners-up in the following year behind Mumbai Indians, behind after GT bottomed out in an eighth position finish in 2024 with only five victories in 14 matches, losing seven and two finishing in no results.
"Shub ghadi che aavi!", captioned GT in their post, with a photo of Gill arriving at the camp amidst fireworks and traditional dance.
They couldn't score a playoff spot as the team went through a change of captains with their title-winning captain Hardik Pandya shifting back to his original team Mumbai Indians (MI) in a controversial switch.
Gill also did not play a very good season with the bat, making 426 runs in 12 innings at an average of 38.72 and a strike rate of more than 147, having a century as well as two half-centuries. He was unable to give a monumental repeat of his 2023 season, when he led the charts with 890 runs from 17 matches at an average of 59.33, with a strike rate of 157.80, with three centuries and four half-centuries.
The 25-year-old is the leading run-scorer for GT, having scored 1,799 runs in 45 games and innings at a strike rate of 147.70 and an average of 44.97. He has scored four centuries and 10 half-centuries for the team, his highest score being 129.
