Indian Aerobic Gymnastics Team Departs for Suzuki World Cup 2025 in Tokyo

The Indian aerobic gymnastics team has departed for the Suzuki Aerobic Gymnastics World Cup 2025, set to take place in Tokyo, Japan, from April 25 to 27. Organized by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) and the International Aerobics Federation, Japan, the event is a prominent fixture on the international gymnastics calendar, drawing elite athletes from 19 countries and regions.
The Indian contingent features a dynamic blend of junior and senior athletes selected through a rigorous national process. The team includes Arya Shah (Maharashtra), Rudraksha Khanna (Jammu & Kashmir), Mutum Romins and Ariha Pangambam (Manipur), and Meet Kosambia (Gujarat). Rhea Sharma (Jammu & Kashmir) will compete in the Junior Women’s Individual category, representing the nation’s rising talent.
Guiding the athletes are experienced coaches Shashank Bidiwal (Gujarat) and SP Singh (Jammu & Kashmir). The delegation is led by Dr. Makarand Joshi, who will also serve as an international judge. Dr. Joshi recently secured the Category III Olympic cycle rank for the seventh consecutive time after excelling at the International Judges Examination in the Philippines. He will be judging at the World Cup for the third year in a row, joined by fellow judge Yamanam Ranjan.
This marks the third consecutive year of sponsorship by Maruti Suzuki India Pvt. Ltd., Delhi, demonstrating continued corporate support for gymnastics in India.
Ahead of their journey, the team received words of encouragement from key figures including Sudhir Mittal, President of the Gymnastics Federation of India; Treasurer Kaushik Bidiwala; Maruti Suzuki executives Sito San, Naoto Takahashi San, and Takeshita San; and officials from the Sports Authority of India and Maharashtra’s Youth Services Department.
The competition promises high-stakes action, with global champions Riri Kitazume and Mizuki Saito of Japan expected to dazzle on home soil. With strong preparation and nationwide backing, the Indian team is determined to leave a mark and raise the tricolor high on the world stage.
