Veteran cricketer Dinesh Karthik has been named captain of Team India for the upcoming Hong Kong Sixes 2025, set to kick off on November 7. The six-a-side tournament, known for its fast paced and entertaining format, marks a fresh chapter for Karthik after his recent retirement from mainstream cricket.
Bringing years of international experience, sharp leadership, and his trademark aggressive batting, Karthik’s appointment is expected to energize the Indian squad and excite fans. His return to lead the team, even in a shorter format, highlights his enduring presence in the cricketing world.
“It’s an absolute honour to lead Team India at a tournament as iconic as the Hong Kong Sixes”, Karthik said. “This is a chance to play bold, fearless cricket and bring joy to the fans. I’m excited to be back on the field and lead such a talented group”.
Cricket Hong Kong China, the event organiser, welcomed the decision with enthusiasm. “Dinesh Karthik’s leadership and global appeal will add immense value to this year’s competition”, said Burji Shroff, Chairperson of the board. “His presence will surely attract attention from fans around the world”.
The Hong Kong Sixes has always stood out for its fun, fast, and dynamic nature, making it a fan favourite across age groups. With Karthik at the helm, Team India is aiming not just to compete but to entertain and maybe even bring the trophy home.
